Messengers and Mortals

No one is sadder than the man who walked
In the Garden in it's earlier days.
And climbed the ladder to see the face of God,
Only to walk amongst mere mortals.

Messengers have traveled and talked
And produced stained glass rays.
They have shown the world a strange and odd
Sensation to subdue mere mortals.

Oh, shit! They believe what I am saying.
I actually need to follow this up.
I thought the deal was simply to pretend
Say a nice word and then go home.

Oh yes! Thirty coins are worth betraying
Some bread and a wine cup.
Everyone seems to have ears to lend,
As long as you give them a stone.

No one is sadder than the man who walked
In the Garden in it's earlier days.
And climbed the ladder to see the face of God,
Only to walk amongst mere mortals.
